Anne Writes:

My husband and I dined at this restaurant July 25th to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. We were very pleasantly impressed with the atmosphere (restored Evers Barn 1851 in historic Olde Avon Village), menu selections, serving sizes and service.

They have an extensive (laminated!) gluten-free menu. I chose almond prawns appetizer, lobster bisque, 6 oz. steak filet with Béarnaise sauce, garlic buttered broccoli, scalloped potatoes and crème brulee for dessert. My husband had a huge steak and house pierogis. The side dishes come family style and, although they are presented for 2 servings, they could easily serve 3 to 4.

This restaurant is famous for its meats – all are of the highest quality and are aged 21 days in a vacuum seal. They were perfectly cooked and extremely tender and juicy. Our server could not have been nicer nor more efficient. We must have spent about 2 hours there slowly dining and enjoying ourselves.

Lastly, all this comes at a price (but we had a $150 gift certificate to use, so we were splurging). Even so, we will likely go back there again, perhaps for a special occasion, as the food was scrumptious and we truly enjoyed our evening (especially the gluten-free ordering ease!).

  1. Thanks for the heads up! I live south of Youngstown so I’m not sure where Avon is. I know my husband would love to try this restaurant. Our wedding anniversary is in September so this will be our destination.

    1. Avon is about 20 miles west of downtown Cleveland. My husband suggests taking the turnpike to Elyria, exit at Rt 58 take it north to I-90 East, go 2 exits, then go right/south. First major intersection with a traffic light (Detroit Rd) turn left. Restaurant is on the lefthand side within the Olde Avon Village shopping area.
