One of my favorite spots for fresh seafood is Don’s Lighthouse in the Edgewater Park Neighborhood on the West Side of Cleveland – located where the Shoreway ends at Clifton and Lake Avenues. Their executive chefs have updated both the printed and on line menus to now indicate the items that are gluten-free. My favorites are the salads with panfried salmon or the Simply Seafood choices with fingerling potatoes and sautéed spinach. They are open Monday through Friday for lunch and seven days per week for dinner. They suggest reservations but we can always be seated without one.

Gluten free items are marked on the menu.

All registered attendees will receive samples from our vendor partners at the end of the excursion.

I’ve eaten twice at The Cheesecake Factory in the last few weeks. I had a modified chicken dish with steamed vegetables at the first visit and a veggie filled salad several days ago. Both were delicious. I was reassured by managers and servers that the kitchen was familiar with preparing food safely.

A nice touch at the last visit: the server brought me a plate with sliced banana when she brought bread for the table. What a clever server!

Gluten Free Living Magazine – Read For Free

I am a big fan of Gluten Free Living magazine. The stories are well researched and relevant to my concerns living gluten free.

Found that Gluten Free Living is one of the nearly 400 popular titles available FREE to all Cuyahoga County Public Library card holders. A full digital copy is available to be read on your computer/tablet/mobile device using the Zinio app or website. No subscription limits or expirations.

The set up was easy but expect to create logins at 2 separate sites. Hint: the same email and password will work for both. Digital Collection – Zinio.

Tried J Gumbo’s yesterday. It is a fast food cajun/creole eatery. About a half dozen menu items are designated gluten free, including spicy Voodoo Chicken, creamy Bumblebee Stew and a traditional Jambalaya. Loved that they offer samples, so I tried all of the GF varieties before placing my order. I enjoyed a bowl of White Chili served over rice. As I was leaving I saw a menu notation that you can order a 2nd entree for $1 or 3rd for $2 more, served together in one bowl. The next time I would get the spicy Voodoo Chicken in combination with one of the milder offerings.
