The Social Cup Coffeehouse & Collective is a new 100% gluten free coffee shop now open in Strongsville near the Town Center Park. Everything is gluten free! All food is dairy free as well, and drinks can be made with or without dairy.

Some items contain gluten free oats, so if you are sensitive to oats you’ll want to let the staff know when ordering.

The Social Cup offers a variety of drinks, plus baked goods from Philomena Bake Shop (Philomena provides the doughs and mixes, and The Social Cup bakes them on site). They also have a small selection of sandwiches and a yogurt cup topped with house-made gluten free granola. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.

The English Muffin breakfast sandwiches are small, and the “panini” sandwiches are larger and come with your choice of apple slices or kettle chips.

If you have kids, there is a small shelf in the back with children’s books and games. In addition, there are two high chairs.

There is a small meeting room that can accommodate about 15 people.

All in all, The Social Cup is an exciting addition to the Celiac community and I highly recommend checking them out if you’re in the Strongsville area!

Nutrition and allergy information.

I have visited the Fairview Park location twice in the last few weeks.

All the chicken salad varieties are gluten free. 

On both my visits I was told that the prepacked chicken salad in the cooler was safe to eat. However , if I wanted a flavor that wasn’t on the shelf, or I wanted to order a scoop size portion, there would be a chance for cross contact from the kitchen as they do make sandwiches.

Even so, they pleasantly accommodated my request for just a scoop portion.  One of the owners personally made my order by using one of the prepacked items.  When my order was delivered I was informed care had been taken with the accompanying lettuce and pickle.  Note, I did not receive the crackers or cookie that my gluten eating companion got.  And that made me very happy.

And how does it taste?  Over my 2 visits I tried 4 varieties and would gladly have any one of them again.  My complaint is with the style of the salads.  These are very smooth and pate-like.  I prefer my chicken salad with larger chunks of chicken.

Condado is a chain of taco restaurants with numerous locations in NEO and beyond!

Offering chips, dips, tacos, burritos, bowls, nachos, quesadillas, margaritas and so much more.

We dined at the Mentor, OH location. The atmosphere is casual with table service and Mexican motif. Our traditional margaritas were good but there are many other flavor options offered along with frozen options.

The service was great! Super helpful server was appreciated given our first visit and the vast options on the menu including build your own options.

We started with a trio of dips – guac, salsa, and queso – the chips were some of the better we’ve had recently when dining out Mexican. Our tacos were tasty and filling. We each had two. Mine were the gf option. My dining partner had flour based option.

We will definitely check out additional items next time!

Evexia Cafe & Bakery

I recently visited Evexia. While they have an extensive menu I only tried baked goods to go which I enjoyed.

The general manager confirmed that almost everything was gluten free or could be made gluten free. The exception when I was there was the cinnamon roll. They did have a GF cinnamon bar which was delicious.

The manager confirmed that care was taken to prevent cross contact including having a separate press to use for the paninis.

There is indoor and outdoor seating.

It is a good spot to try coffee and a treat or a full meal.

I look forward to returning and trying new items.

Chopt Creative Salad Co.

Westlake, Woodmere

The original Chopt restaurant was founded in Union Square, NYC, in 2001. Their mission is to make healthy eating exciting for all people.

Two locations have opened locally in Westlake and Woodmere.

I visited the Woodmere location. The greeter at the door handed out menus and was surprised that GF information was not shown on the printed menu or the in-store ordering kiosks or on the app. He offered to look for that information but said it would be the same as I’d already found online.

The Allergen and Nutrition Information shows that most, but not all, of the salads, warm bowls and individual ingredients are gluten free. I found it helpful to have looked at these details in advance.

When I ordered the Blissful Harvest Bowl I was glad to see there was space to notify of the “allergy” on the order screen. The greeter said that notification would be sufficient and I did not need to otherwise make staff aware.

I enjoyed the bowl of warm grains, marinated kale, roasted chicken, sweet potato, apples, goat cheese and almonds. I tried it without substitution except requesting dressing on the side. I did not receive any dressing with my order but found the dish to be flavorful and additional dressing was not required.

Modifications are easy and infinite while ordering.

There are many delicious sounding items to try and I’m looking forward to a return visit.
