From Gay:

We recently ate dinner at Luxe Kitchen, 6605 Detroit Avenue (Gordon Square Arts District) on Cleveland’s west side. There is a new chef and a new menu. Happily, many items are now “naturally” gluten-free and I had delicious cheesy grits with chicken as my entree. To my delight, I was served a bowl of complimentary olives while others enjoyed the bread with our wine.  I could smell that bread but had those delicious olives to pop into my mouth!  Although nothing is officially identified as GF, a number of options turn out to be so. Their menu is on line at

One of my favorite spots for fresh seafood is Don’s Lighthouse  in the Edgewater Park Neighborhood on the West Side of Cleveland – located where the Shoreway ends at Clifton and Lake Avenues. Their executive chefs have updated both the printed and on line menus to now indicate the items that are gluten-free.  My favorites are the salads with panfried salmon or the Simply Seafood choices with fingerling potatoes and sautéed spinach. They are open Monday through Friday for lunch and seven days per week for dinner. They suggest reservations but we can always be seated without one.

Gluten free items are marked on the menu.

I’ve eaten twice at The Cheesecake Factory in the last few weeks.  I had a modified chicken dish with steamed vegetables at the first visit and a veggie filled salad several days ago.  Both were delicious.  I was reassured by managers and servers that the kitchen was familiar with preparing food safely.

A nice touch at the last visit: the server brought me a plate with sliced banana when she brought bread for the table.  What a clever server!

Have you ever been offered fruit or vegetables in lieu of bread?

The Oak Barrel

I much enjoyed lunch yesterday at The Oak Barrel.  They have an extensive gluten free menu and the server was very knowledgeable and made several trips to the kitchen confirming french fries were gluten free, but the house made blue corn chips were not made in a dedicated fryer.  They do not have GF bread, so you would have to byob (bring your own bun) for a burger.  I had the Yucatan BBQ Pork taco, sans shell, and the tender well-flavored pork was served platter style with a bowl of tasty slaw.  I did not miss the shell.  I also tried the Chef’s Garden Pickled Vegetables and was treated to a nice selection of pickled radish, carrot and rutabaga slices in addition to the expected cucumber.  There are a number of vegetarian friendly menu items.  The server said the restaurant would soon announce a Sunday brunch menu and promised it would have gluten free options.

D’Agnese’s Trattoria and Cafe

Akron

Eileen shares:

D’Agnese’s Trattoria and Cafe at White pond is extremely gluten free
friendly. It is a very pretty restaurant with white table cloths.  They
offer gluten free pasta and will guide you to dishes that are or can be made
GF. They are very careful to ask if bread can even be put on your table.
Last time I was there I was offered two choices of GF cake for dessert. A
waiter came over to our table to rave about one of the Gf cakes and said he
would bet me that I would never know it was GF unless they told me and he
was right.
