Our site visitor Brittney shared the news of the opening of Battery Park Pub with us – Thank You Brittney – you are so right – this place is wonderful!

At first I was a bit skeptical, due to the pub name and all.  One visit to Battery Park Pub and I was completely enamored!  So much so that I was seriously considering never sharing the info and keeping it all to myself.

I’m not selfish though, so, here’s the scoop!!

We arrived at the pub, found a seat, and immediately were greeted by Rachel!  She was well informed about all things on the menu and took notes on my suggestions for g-f beer since they had yet to stock that at the bar.  They do have cider and the White Claw Seltzers ( these are super popular ) but  they were out of on that particular evening.

We shared the pickled veg bowl!  One of my favorite things showing up in restaurants these days are the pickled veg.  Battery Park’s bowl was extraordinary – carrots, snap peas, radishes, zucchini!!   Perfectly made and super tasty.

My dining partner had the cauliflower/potato soup and pierogis while I had the mac n cheese with pulled pork topping.  We shared everything!  We loved it all!

After a bit, we were visited by the owner, Garrett, who thanked us for the gf beer recommendations, filled us in on all the details of how they came to be, and checked on our thoughts about the food!  We let him know that we would be back soon, bring friends along, and share all about Battery Park Pub.

Today! in my email!  Garrett messaged to let me know that they are now stocking Glutenberg – Pale Ale!  I’ll be seeing them tonight!

Battery Park Pub is Detroit Shoreway’s neighborhood eatery and drinkery.  Located next to the walking bridge to Edgewater Park, it’s the perfect location to grab a bite and libations before going to the beach.

Our website guest, Brittney, shared this post with us!!  Check it out:)

  1. No longer all gluten free. Was going to get dinner there tonight. New owners. Not able to keep the menu going.

    1. Thank you Marie! It’s too bad that this restaurant did not make it. We appreciate
your giving a heads up on the change.

  2. At our February meeting I had the daily special, tacos. It was so fun to have so many menu options. Everyone could order something different.

  3. What a find! We’re not drinkers so I can’t talk about the adult beverages. The food though was fabulous! The perogies were unbelievably wonderful. The burger and especially the bun delish and the wings were a treat. So nice to share with my husband and not worry about contamination. Highly recommended and will return.

  4. My husband and I dined at the Battery Park Pub on Sweetest Day and thoroughly enjoyed it! We shared cauliflower ‘wings’. He had a burger and sweet potato waffle fries. I had Slovenian pierogis and they were great (especially since I had not had gluten-free pierogies that were this nice since my celiac diagnosis 14 years ago!). Our waitress/mixologist was knowledgeable and our food arrived quickly. We got to speak with the owner/chef who was sitting in the bar with us – developing his ideas for gluten-free pizza to be added to the menu! We will be back again soon as we loved the food, venue and service (and we want to come to hear the music about Noon on Saturdays during the gluten-free buffet).

  5. What? Perogis? Mac and cheese? Why bother with f2f beer? I thought this group was supposed to be about gluten intolerance and celiac. E ese items gluten free? You don’t say, so I doubt it. Why are you even writing about this place?

    1. Yes Rick. Everything. Every single thing on the food menu. Gluten-free. Let us know about your experience when you go. You can post it to the comments at the restaurant page.

    1. Thanks for responding with your comments – the more we share – the more we are an informed community. I too enjoy the IPA.
Perhaps down the road if we are making an effort and bringing business to Battery Park they’ll be able to offer both!! What a
treat that will be, Right!? Please check it out. If you see anything you have concerns about ask for Garrett and let him know
he’ll answer or be happy to have attention to any issues! Enjoy!

    1. Janelle,
EVERYTHING!! Every single thing. No items for cross contamination in the kitchen. Keep in mind that they are serving traditional beers and cocktails at the bar but also carry beverages for the gluten-free in need. That being said! If you have any concerns when you are there check in with Garrett the owner and let him know. There could still be a learning curve.

      1. I noticed there is a side of malt aioli for the fisherman fries. Malt is not gluten free. I’d hate to get caught unaware for such a simple thing.
