Pinstripes is a sprawling entertainment and dining facility in Pinecrest.

From their website:

Pinstripes was built from a passion to gather, to celebrate, and to experience sophisticated fun. Gather around our outdoor fire pit, rival friends in a game of bocce, or lace up the bowling shoes in our grand rendition of the classic American pastime while you enjoy our Italian/American cuisine served from our scratch kitchen.

I enjoyed dinner in the Bistro on a recent spring evening. The hostess produced a gluten friendly menu when asked about gluten free availability. The server assured me that once she notes the “allergy” my food would be prepared separately in the kitchen.

The gluten friendly menu included salads, pastas, pizzas and entrees. The server said that pasta is prepared separately but pizza is made in a shared oven.

I enjoyed a Cobb salad with beautifully arranged ingredients and super fresh taste.

Gluten eating companions enjoyed a vegetable flatbread and salmon sandwich. No sandwiches on the gluten friendly menu, though I wonder if items could just be ordered without the bread.

Happy hour is available in the bar area and pizza is on the menu. Might be worth a try.

Lindey’s Lake House

Flats, East Bank

Update by Diane 3/27/2022. The Beachwood location is closed. The restaurant has a location in the Flats, East Bank.

From Lindey’s web page: Farm to Table. Fresh. Local.

From our page: Gluten-free options too.

Headed over to Lindey’s Lake House at La Place in Beachwood with a bit of gluten-free “new restaurant” anxiety. As it turns out nervousness was totally unnecessary.

After being greeted by our server, Mo, I stated out my g-f necessity and asked if he could steer me toward accommodations. He was amazingly knowledgeable about both my needs and the entire menu – limitations and availabilities.

As it was ‘Happy Hour’ he suggested we try the Leo’s Lemonade made with vodka distilled in Columbus – corn based – absent gluten. The drink was super! From the salad menu I chose the Shaved Brussel Sprout salad – one of two g-f options (the other being the chopped salad) . The sprouts salad was amazing. The guac and shishito pepper small plates were recommended as options but I passed on appetizers for this meal. For my entree I chose to go with tacos – two of the options on the menu are g-f. As one of my dinner companions was also interested in the tacos we ordered the Mahi-Mahi and the Steak options. We shared. Both options were super delectable! I’ve not been able to recall what other options on the menu were available but as we rounded out the meal with coffee we, all four, agreed that we’d be back to Lindey’s to try more of the menu.

Stay tuned for updates. Better yet check it out and post us a comment. And if you like, ask for Mo. He’s great!

City Barbeque

Beachwood, Fairlawn

City Barbeque AKA City BBQ
https://www.citybbq.com/

A new location of City BBQ opened recently in the Pavilion Shopping Center on Chagrin Road in Beachwood.

I love the idea of BBQ.  Naturally gluten free meats, choice of sides.  Just stay away from the bread.

However, City BBQ has the staff who carves the meat also handling the bread for sandwiches.  All platters also come with a slice of bread.

After discussion with management, the safest gluten free choice was their seasonal specialty, Brisket Chili. I could have also tried other side dishes.

The Brisket Chili was meaty and tasty. Perfect for mid-winter in Cleveland.

The restaurant has an Allergen List which notes gluten containing items. If you go, take care and watch for a high cross-contamination risk.

Capital Grille – Legacy

Lyndhurst, Multiple Locations Nationwide

January tends to be a quiet month in the restaurant industry.  I consider it my duty to patronize the eateries we enjoy while they are on the quiet side and so that I feel I’ve helped the businesses and servers during what can be a stressful pause in business.

Even though we indulged in lots of foodstuffs over the past month we have an early January Birthday in our house so a nice dinner out follows the entire month of the eating frenzy.  One thing not on this holiday season’s menu was steak.  In the interest of balancing out the diet, having a celebratory meal and keeping it relaxed and leisurely we headed out to Capital Grille.

To my surprise – Capital Grille has a special gluten-free menu with a fair number of options available in all categories.  This seasons g-f menu featured 1 soup – Clam Chowder, 2 salads, 2 appetizers, and a range of entrees.

Meals are a bit pricey at Capital Grille so I wanted to choose mine carefully.  The Surf n Turf option with 2 filets about 2 – 3 ounces each, 2 Langostino lobsters also about 2 – 3 ounces each was a perfect pairing.  All menu items are ala carte so we added a salads, au gratin potatoes, and sauteed spinach to round out the meal.

It is possible that this meal was one of the best meals I’ve had in a restaurant!  The steaks were cooked to perfection as were the potatoes and the spinach.  Salads were super fresh, chilled and well dressed.  The service was impeccable.  They noted our names when we arrived and that we were celebrating.  Our server addressed us by name throughout the meal and presented a lovely dessert platter following our meal with a flourless chocolate tart for (g-f me) and a cheesecake tartlet (not g-f) for my husband.

For a celebration the Capital Grille is a really great option and there are locations all over the country, including two in Ohio, locally at Legacy Village and also in Cincinnati.
