Nothing Bundt Cakes

South Euclid, Avon, Canton

First the bad news: Nothing Bundt Cakes makes beautiful (mostly) gluten filled cakes.

The (maybe) good news is that “gluten-free flavor is available at select bakeries”.

This bakery makes only bundt cakes in a variety of sizes. There were a number of flavors on display, one of which was gluten free chocolate chip.

The counter clerk shared a binder with cake ingredients and assured me that separate pans and utensils are used in preparation.

The “Bundtlet” was a large muffin size, moist and dotted with mini chocolate chips. It was topped with their signature cream cheese frosting. A truly decadent treat.

Two sizes are available gluten free. The “Bundlet” was $5 (50 cents more than the gluten filled options) and 8 inch for $25 ($3 more). The clerk said that cakes are available with 20 minutes notice.

I visited the South Euclid store located on the North side of Cedar Center – 13949 Cedar Rd, South Euclid, OH 44118.

Other nearby stores are in Avon (35925 Detroit Rd, Avon, OH 44011) and Canton (4468 Belden Village St NW, Canton, OH 44718). They may have the gluten free cakes.

  1. Gluten free Lemon Raspberry is available for a limited time, 1/22 – 2/4. I found the cake to be dense and moist with a pronounced lemon flavor. They have the usual GF chocolate chip flavor, too. As always, these are made in a shared kitchen. I was told the GF cakes are made first thing in the morning using sanitized equipment.

  2. My husband got me the GF Choc Chip cake for my birthday in 2017. I was majorly glutened. It was horrible! Stayed away from it until this year (2021). Decided to try again. Have had the small Bundt twice and have been fine. Same store location. Guessing they perfected their process.

  3. You may need to check with your doctor for “nightshades” in the event you had tomatoes, eggplant or green peppers that day. Additionally if it happens this quickly your symptoms can be related to a bacteria overgrowth in your stomach and colon. I discovered the hard way.

  4. Celebrated family birthdays with bundtlets from the Cedar Center location in the last couple of months. No celiac symptoms to report.

  5. Unfortunately, my gluten-free cupcake made me very sick last night. If I eat gluten, my symptoms are like clockwork. 2-5 hours later, I get an overwhelming feeling of nausea, then everything explodes. I know 100% what has happened as it is the same feeling/experience every time. I will definitely let our local Nothing Bundt Cakes store know that if they are going to advertise gluten free, they need to make sure they let customers know if cross contamination is a possibility.

  6. Nothing Bundt Cakes bringing joy to the community. There is also a store in Strongsville; located at 13433 Pearl Road in the heart of Strongsville-Westwood Commons. If you’re looking to order for the holiday season, place those orders sooner rather than later.
I not only have celiac disease, I also enjoy a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie bundlet from time to time without ever getting sick from consuming it. Great little treat for those of us with celiac disease – thanks Nothing Bundt Cakes.

    1. Glad to hear they have gf options, I was wondering about that. Now I will call and see if they are soy free too. You are not worried about cross contamination there?

  7. A little research demonstrates that there is no serious attempt to limit cross-contamination and many have gotten ill after eating the gf chocolate chip bundt cakes. I’m sure there are locations that do this better than others and if it works for you, then great, but please don’t belittle the experience of others who have gotten sick–however non-standard you find their symptoms. Thankfully I can eat wheat/gluten-filled treats, but 15 minutes of research tells me buying the supposedly gluten free one for my husband is too much of a risk given his Celiac Disease. I definitely agree this place is delicious.

    1. Yes, I got very sick last night after eating the gf cupcake. Even the thought of tasting that cupcake this morning made me nauseous. Hopefully our local store will take my experience and do better in the future. I plan to let them know in the next couple of days.

  8. This little cake is still a real treat. The South Euclid store is popular these days. They only let 2 patrons in at a time so be prepared to wait in line.

    1. A friend brought one as a retirement gift for my husband and me – chocolate chip gf cake. It was amazing, especially the frosting.

  9. My sister got really sick with blisters in her throat from eating their “gluten free” single serving cake. We’re trying to find the list of ingredients but have been searching a while and can’t find it anywhere. Can anyone help us figure out what’s in these? Thanks.

    1. The best way to find out the info you want is to contact the store directly. It is important for them to be informed of issues with their products so that they can do the necessary research and follow up to make corrections. This information will allow them to pull any product from the shelves that they think might be suspect. Thank you for contacting us and making this community aware of issues that might exist. As we are simply a forum for sharing information with the community we do not have a personal relationship with the various vendors that are featured.

    2. That doesn’t sound like a normal celiac response to gluten. I’m wondering if she’s allergic to something. But any chance hers wasn’t the gluten free chocolate chip one?

      1. Truly there are no ‘typical’ gluten exposure responses. But it is possible that there is an additional
        sensitivity.

    3. Sounds lovely but we don’t trust bakeries that bake with wheat flour since it can be in the air and then settle on counters again, etc. 🙁 It was probably cross contamination if they bake in the same space. Mouth sores are common for us.

  10. Had another little cake. So tasty. And it is a wonderful feeling to walk into the store and have the wrapped gluten free treat ready to purchase. Friends like the gluten filled options, too.

  11. The pharmacist at my job picked these up on Tuesday for tech day. This is the best dessert I’ve ever tasted!!! I had the gluten free chocolate chip. She bought so many of them, all the flavors, they looked so beautiful! Even the wrapping was perfect. They were so wonderful I had to personally tell you thank you ❤️
